------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2007-08-03 16:16 -------
Reopening, because of reports about installation problems with
Fijutsi Siemens Primergy TX-200, a server used in some schools in Norway.

The kernel module dpt_i2o exist in the kernel, and the dmesg output indicate
that it is loaded during boot:

Loading Adaptec I2O RAID: Version 2.4 Build 5go
  Detecting Adaptec I2O RAID controllers...
PCI: Unable to reserve mem region #1:[EMAIL PROTECTED] for device 0000:01:08.1
dpti: adpt_config_hba: pci request region failed
Could not Init an I2O RAID device
Will not try to detect others.

I have no idea what this message mean.

Does it help to upgrade the firmware on the machine?

I found http://osdir.com/ml/linux.centos.general/2005-04/msg00385.html
with information that appear to be relevant to this cause when searching
for the error message. Does the machine in question have several raid sets?
Does it help to wipe the disks before installing on them? Wiping can
be done by using the manual partitioning and making them encrypted
partitions. It will overwrite the entire disk with random data. It can
also be done from a shell using dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/path/to/disk.
