Can you please post the contents of your /etc/apt/sources.list? Did you do an "apt-get update" before running the above command?

education-desktop-gnome and education-tasks are build from the same source package, so there must be something wrong with your apt sources (or with the apt repository).
What I have done is: o I installed a Tjener (+ workstation role) with desktop=gnome o I found a system without GDM installed, but with KDM installed, but KDM did not start o I then edited apt's sources.list (see above) as I would do on any Debian system (get rid of the CD, install from web) o then I ran ,,apt-get install education-desktop-gnome''Obviously, education-tasks (=0.852~svn72937) got installed from CD, but its version is new than the education-tasks (=0.851) in any of the Debian archives listed in sources.list. Refer to this:
<snip> root@tjener:/var/spool/exim4/input# apt-cache show education-tasks Package: education-tasks Priority: extra Section: misc Installed-Size: 136 Maintainer: Debian Edu Developers <debian-edu@lists.debian.org> Architecture: i386 Source: debian-edu Version: 0.851 Depends: tasksel (>= 2.07) Filename: pool/main/d/debian-edu/education-tasks_0.851_i386.deb Size: 42372 MD5sum: 9386347bac2da9bf7aa68ecdd48e3596 SHA1: 4064abdb24809772c00001f2926be71e97120031 SHA256: fbce535186028eff8540fe33e0223b58227e44dc1ae668007e7bcb5dac46912f Description: Debian Edu tasks for tasksel This package provides Debian Edu tasks in tasksel.
