i didn't use the original poppl laudatio condensed since it is a commercial non-free font. i obtained a free version of that font but didn't use it in the end. the edu was done manually. > I just wonder if the space between a + n is wider, while the space > between n + e is smaller. > good observation, indeed - you are perfectly right.. the kerning within the original debian-logo is not exactly a designers dream and i must admit that in a weak moment i was tempted to alter it but chose not to mess with a solid brand. the kerning of the edu on the other hand was manually set and the word was deliberately chosen to be so close to the n. the logo is not supposed to be used monocolored but always with either a lighter coloured debian or a lighter coloured edu (depending on the background) this causes an effect of a certain distance between the two words. one word always stands out. by bringing them closer together in x this effect is compensated to a certain degree. hence the spacial proximity... cheers! christoph -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
