It should definitely be removed; it is incompatible with the ltsp packages in Jessie, and can lead to the exact sort of symptoms you're experiencing... Did you remove it manually, or from the installed debian-edu-config package? The timing of removal may be significant. > So maybe something inside d-i changed the last weeks.
