I had the same issue, but I kinda ignored it O:-)

My guess is that eeepc-acpi-scripts do detect that powersaved is running, and 
it does nothing; then powersaved either doesn't capture the event, or fails 
to suspend the system.

Maybe you could bind a soft-key to suspend-to-disk?
