Thanks to all for your answers. I actually have a dirty script which can figure out when the connexion is renewed and take actions (I have ADSL and my isp uses pptp over ppp. yeck...). My main problem was to have a mailer that can simply forward to a inside host and not create any security holes whatsoever. As I wasn't too sure it existed I was starting to look at much more complex (and probably stupid) solutions :)
