-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I run samba on my firewall (because it's my print server as well), and have set it to listen to the internal interface only. But I get this in netstat:
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:138 0.0.0.0:* udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:137 0.0.0.0:* I posted a bug to the debian package and the maintainer looked into the problem and awnsered saying that for a program to receive broadcast packets it must listen to all interfaces. Is this the case or can you have to bind to, say, 192.168.1.0 only? Can someone here explain the mechanics of broadcast packets and daemons that use them? Sorry if this is a bit offtopic, Pedro. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE7zgQq2SBo0jBmgGARAt/QAJ9Fd3sXECBZNWPgYWT73ggKTeIVXQCgiPyR SiWxGMuJfLdU7ngLNrWBpIk= =tjDM -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
