As the Debian Architecture Bug Squash party continues this weekend, it is quite likely that additional info and/or patches may be added to this defect. The following build failure occured on ia64 (using gcc 2.96): See http://people.debian.org/~willy/common_bugs.html for more background information, and some additional information on deciphering the sometimes cryptic buildd database entries. If the bug is gcc 3.0 errors, then it is quite likely reproducable on other platforms. With gcc 3.0, of course. If the comment is about config.{guess, sub} then they're out of date, see the current autotools-dev package. -- System Information Debian Release: testing/unstable Kernel Version: Linux ia 2.4.5rgh1 #1 Sun Jun 24 20:39:18 MDT 2001 ia64 unknown devel/gcc-3.0_3.0.ds9-4 by bdale-ia64 [standard:out-of-date] Reasons for failing: [Category: none] dep-wait on dejagnu needs expect, probably should be built by hand anyway --------------------------------------- Received: (at 105102-done) by bugs.debian.org; 14 Jul 2001 08:42:21 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Jul 14 03:42:21 2001 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from gateway-1237.mvista.com (nevyn.them.org) [::ffff:12.44.186.158] by master.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.12 1 (Debian)) id 15LL0H-0007RS-00; Sat, 14 Jul 2001 03:42:21 -0500 Received: from drow by nevyn.them.org with local (Exim 3.22 #1 (Debian)) id 15LL0K-00081M-00; Sat, 14 Jul 2001 01:42:24 -0700 Date: Sat, 14 Jul 2001 01:42:24 -0700 From: Daniel Jacobowitz <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: LaMont Jones <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Bug#105102: Build failure on ia64 (at least) Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.3.16i In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; from [EMAIL PROTECTED] on Fri, Jul 13, 2001 at 11:43:06PM -0600 Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] On Fri, Jul 13, 2001 at 11:43:06PM -0600, LaMont Jones wrote: > Package: gcc-3.0 > Version: 3.0.ds9-4 > Priority: serious > > Filing this serious because hppa plans to release with woody. That's not a bug in the package, it's a build problem on ia64. Come back when expect is built and you've tried gcc-3.0 by hand. -- Daniel Jacobowitz Carnegie Mellon University MontaVista Software Debian GNU/Linux Developer
