(I have an Athlon XP, kernel 2.4.20 from XFS CVS
SGI XFS CVS-2002-11-30_06:00_UTC with ACLs, quota, no debug enabled
[In case the filesystem is responsible])

Versions:
ii binutils 2.13.90.0.16-1
ii cpp-3.2 3.2.2-0pre5
ii gcc-3.2-base 3.2.2-0pre5
ii libc6 2.3.1-9
ii libgcc1 3.2.2-0pre5

Building the 2.4.20 kernel source (from ftp.uk.kernel.org) results in a
segfault (used default config).

This is the invocation for the first file that causes a segfault:
(linux-2.4.20/drivers/pcmcia/cs.c)
gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/home/zx64/linux-2.4.20/include -Wall
-Wstrict-prototypes -Wno-trigraphs -O2 -fno-strict-aliasing -fno-common
-fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -mpreferred-stack-boundary=2 -march=i686
-save-temps -nostdinc -iwithprefix include -DKBUILD_BASENAME=cs
-DEXPORT_SYMTAB -c cs.c
gcc.real: warning: -pipe ignored because -save-temps specified
cs.c: In function `pcmcia_request_window':
cs.c:2007: internal error: Segmentation fault

Preprocessor output available at
http://www.warwickcompsoc.co.uk/~zx64/cs.i.bz2

Hope this helps,
    Euan.
