Perhaps an FAQ but couldn't find it here or in google. At any time on one machine (home machines running Debian unstable) I allow multiple users to have their X sessions running concurrently (e.g., on tty7, tty8, etc). I've not yet figured out how to get gnome-volume-manager working happily in this situation.
All users have been added to plugdev group. Seems each user needs to start gnome-volume-manager themselves (in gnome-session-properties). Is that how it is? If just one user is running X (e.g. on tty7), all works fine. USB devices "just appear" when plugged in. VERY NICE.... But add a second concurrent X/Gnome/gnome-volume-manager user (e.g., on tty8) and put in the USB stick and it seems it gets mounted by the first user, rather than the "current" user (i.e., gets mounted as the user on tty7 rather than the user of the currently displayed X window on tty8). This user (on tty8) can't unmount the device (because the first user is the one that it gets mounted as). Is there something I've missed in dealing with this? Regards, Graham
