We build GHC unregisterised on PPC, and GHCi used to not work like that.
I think that that has since been fixed in the 6.8 branch, although the
FFI won't work until 6.10; if I'm right then it could be reenabled, in
principle.

However, I think that that would require building the TH package, which
PPC was failing to do, possibly because of memory usage (although I'm a
bit surprised if that's the problem, given a 512 MB Arm seemed to
manage).

At the moment I don't expect this to get sorted out for lenny, but
hopefully it will for lenny+1 and GHC 6.10 (6.12?). Sorry.
