One part of the patch that fixes this was not included in last release, because it required C99. Jeff is looking into this now. So expect next release of dpkg to be fixed (or at least hope so :).
Another thing in the patch that is not included is walking through all pids in function-constructor. I don't know why constructor is needed, but declaring it as such helps.
I've just reopened the bug (with originator [EMAIL PROTECTED]) because it's not fixed -- these issues are not solved.
