Dear maintainers of file utility, Upstream has now released file-5.06. Among the changes made is to dynamically allocate buffers to avoid the MAXPATHLEN problems causing FTBFS on GNU/Hurd. After bug #612272 was filed, communication continued with upstream and they took the effort to fix these problems. This is really a good example of upstreams responsiveness. Please package file-5.06.
