Hi,

as far as i could find out, there simply are different su programs
in amd64 and hurd-i386. Looking at their strings, i see
  /etc/login.defs
at the very end of amd64:/bin/su whereas this text does not appear
in hurd-i386:/usr/bin/su . Help texts differ. hurd-i386 has
Copyright %s %d Free Software Foundation, Inc.
amd64 has no string which matches "/opyr" (case insensitive).

The man page on amd64 promises setting PATH according to /etc/login.defs
whereas the man page on hurd-i386 simply points to the info document,
which does not mention /etc/login.defs.

Have a nice day :)

Thomas
