I can see a few occasions when this might be useful.

Take for an example when the Computer/IT/Security policy ban the use of
MS Outlook MUA because of the security risk it has (anyone still
remember the love letter and/or melissa virus?), then banning Outlook
from using the mail server is a perfectly valid reason.
