If you're assigning IPs to customers then you should be installing
in-addr.arpa records.  Just use the reverse DNS to track what has been
allocated and who you allocated it to.

If nslookup too difficult an interface then a few lines of php or perl on a
webpage can perform the reverse lookups for people.
