We used that for a year or so. About a third of the users were able to make it work. The rest of them couldn't install the proxy properly, or had firewall problems or something. The ones who did get it working complained of performance problems. And no Macintosh support. Safe-TP is not transparent. What we need is the standard RFC2228 FTP with security extensions that most commercial Web hosts offer. It's a disappointment that woody doesn't have it.
