probabilmente non hai la rete funzionante o non è impostata correttamente
magari basta dare un
# ifconfig eth0 up
se la tua scheda di rete è eth0
e se poi il ping funziona puoi rieseguire i comandi apt-get precedenti
Per verificare un po' la tua configurazione di rete:
