Avviandolo da /etc/init.d/xfs start ho:

Avviato dopo X (cioè in sequenza: xdm, /usr/X11R6/binX, -:0, e infine xfs-xtt).

presumo che hai installato usando tasksel, che simpaticamente - tra le altre cose vedi sawfish - si dimentica di installare il server delle fonts.
xfs e xfs-tt sono la stessa cosa, salvo che l'ultimo ha un migliore supporto per le fonts true-type e quindi per l'antialiasing.
insomma installa xfs-tt che è meglio. il file di configurazione è in /etc/X11/xfs-xtt/
mozilla lo vuole per l'antialiasing.
