Ricapitolando il problema: sul PC vecchio con Etch la rete funziona regolarmente e mi posso connettere a interenet con modem dsl ethernet (scheda di rete realtek con modulo ne2k_pci)
Sul PC nuovo, stessa Etch, scheda di rete integrata chipset NVIDIA nForce 4 SLI MCP: 1) devo avviare la rete manualmente con ifconfig eth0 up 2) devo dare manualmente un indirizzo alla scheda di rete con ifconfig eth0 197.1.1.1 3) devo caricare con modprobe i moduli pppoe, pppox, ppp_generic e comunque non si connette, con errore Remote message: 1014 ps0FF003 0838872691 test user. pap authentication failed Connection terminated Grazie mille a chi mi può aiutare.
