Well, that would be a logical way to do it. :) I didn't think about it
too much, and just made symlinks. I imagine you would get better results
by using the alternatives mechanism. (Which I haven't investigated well.)
There are many commands associated with java though, so I would suggest
making sure you get them all -- ls -l /etc/alternatives | grep jdk gave
me 10 commands -- your system may be different, of course. :)

You know, I hear the story change every time anyone brings up the
question. I think CLASSPATH is mostly a thing of the past; however, you
may still need to try various settings to get things to work. :(
