DEB_MAVEN_ARGS is the CDBS syntax, it won't work with DH. You either have to override the target and add a parameter (dh_auto_build -- -Dfoo=bar) or declare the property in debian/maven.properties (add a line with: foo=bar). Emmanuel Bourg
