Applications are invited for a research assistant to work as part of a team carrying out a mixture of experimental and analytic networking research at the Hamilton Institute. Ongoing work includes the development and experimental evaluation of (i) 802.11e schemes for quality of service in both single and multi-hop wireless LANs, (ii) distributed channel allocation and optimal routing algorithms for 802.11 wireless mesh networks, and (iii) TCP congestion control algorithms for high-speed networks. We are looking for motivated, enquiring people with excellent skills in C programming and an interest in networking. Experience of Linux or FreeBSD kernel development would be a plus, but is not essential. The possibility exists to pursue an MSc by research in conjunction with this appointment.
