About us: Aplix is a global supplier of technology to mobile operators and manufacturers. Although best known for being the leading supplier of mobile Java technology, we are actively working on other technologies and products. We are headquartered in Japan but have R&D operations worldwide and are now forming a UK team dedicated to mobile web technology.
About the job: You will be involved from the very beginning of this operation as a developer and software architect, and you'll be working on innovating, building and deploying products based on the latest web technology. We've set up a small team office in the Guildford area so you'll get the energy and flexibility of a startup environment but the stability of a global company. About you: You're smart and get things done. You have a track record of achievement, both academically and in previous employment. You have very solid experience in C and C++ development – ideally on Linux and on mobile platforms as well. You're equally happy creating new software as working with existing source and solving problems. As a coder you're fast, accurate and consistent. A strong grounding in networking/HTTP and experience with Java and JavaScript are important. If you've worked directly with the WebKit or Mozilla codebases that would be great. If you write compilers in your spare time it would be awesome. Where you don't have direct experience, you make up for it in creativity, enthusiasm, hard work and a strong personal commitment to individual development.
