I removed that monotype.ttf font from my configuration, and the Fonts controlpanel still displays nice fixed courier fonts now in the fixed font setting.
So I do believe that the config file I posted in my previous e-mail works. If anyone can pass me a .deb of an AA-enabled konsole, I'd be more than happy to try it out! --Tim
