Hi all, I use KDE and would prefer not to have portmap running on my machine. However
kdelibs3 depends on libfam0 which recommends fam which depends on portmap so installing KDE leads to installation of portmap. I wonder what is the proper way to disable portmap while still keeping KDE. I edited /etc/init.d/portmap so that it never starts. Is it a proper way? Does it cripple KDE anyhow?
