I had the same problem with sound notification and I accidentally found the solution...
knotify is not launched on startup. Just using #knotify in a konsole is enough to start the notify daemon. But why is it not launched by default on startup as before??? Thank you for forwarding to the list if it does not reach it (I'm not a subscriber) Laurent Cooper -- Debian powered computer
