If anybody is interested how this problem was solved on my computer: In /etc/pam.d/kdm I inserted the lines:
auth required pam_unix.so shadow nullok account required pam_unix.so session required pam_unix.so Now everything seems to work like it should. Christian When using KDM of 3.2.2 (woody system) I am not asked for the password > forllogin.
