KDE 3.2 uses the new XDG dir locations. Almost all desktop files should now be under /usr/share/applications, for some reason not all of them were moved yet. It should work as is, unless there is some sort of problem with your .kde dir. The new menu file (/etc/xdg/...) looks in both locations for backwards compatibility. Chris
