KMail 1.7 (KDE 3.3) jumps to first unread message

I notice that KMail 1.7 (KDE 3.3) jumps to the first unread message in
a folder, even if I have it set not to do that. This is new
behaviour, as I could keep it from doing that with all prior
versions.
