On Thursday 04 May 2006 10:06, Lorenzo Bettini was heard to say:
Fatal server error:
Cannot move old log file ("/var/log/Xorg.0.log ......)
can anybody help please?
I think this is the actual problem (I couldn't start any session
from kde, and so I tried to run startx manually and got this...)
Since it work as root, it's almost certainly a permissions error that
has crept in somehow. Let's see...
$ ls -al /var/log
total 1984
drwxr-xr-x 8 root root 4096 May 4 07:37 .
drwxr-xr-x 14 root root 4096 Jan 17 20:58 ..
- -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 22395 May 3 14:07 Xorg.0.log
- -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 23927 May 3 10:34 Xorg.0.log.old
Check yours.
actually the same... but that doesn't mean much since it actually says
that only root can write....
