I bet its more the non standard location that matters than the mutiple 
accounts one. So bad luck for IMAP users I´d say.

kdebugdialog and running KMail from console could help finding whats wrong. 
Or downgrading may help. Dunno how safe a virtuoso downgrade would be tough.

After all its experimantal-snapshots :)
