On my system recommends normally do get installed, but apparently not on upgrading a package, which resulted in broken desktop on my machine. Manually installing libqt5xcbqpa5 fixed it. See also https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=802656#39
