Additional information on this bug:
The command "find . -name \*.ps -exec gzip \{\{ \;"
hangs the system in the same way.
This time the "ps" command shows "gzip shower.ps"
as the invocation that is hung. But this file "shower.ps"
is not the first in the order returned by "find . -name \*.ps"
and after turning off the power and rebooting, the files earlier
in the list have not been compressed.
The command "gzip shower.ps" run from the tcsh prompt succeeds in
a normal fashion.
These files are on a Reiser files system partition.
