Well we're seeing a few reports of this by users who fail to install because of CD DMA problems. Can this be fixed on the kernel side, or do we need to try to do something in the installer to disable DMA?
If you disable DMA for all then there will be a lot of complains about slow installation via CD.
Maybe you should consider an option "nodma" at boot time?
