But when I upgraded to 'bf2.4' to try ext3 journaling, I began to see white flecks across the screen when CPU activity occurs. The system still functions perfectly, though. The flecks appear very early, from boot-up in VGA mode as soon as the kernel starts, and continue when X and Gnome are running. I have tried the proven XF86Config-4 file that I was using when I was running 'vanilla', but I still see the flecks. I have tried running with and without kernel frame-buffers. If I reduce the color-depth, the problem is mitigated but still very apparent. To my knowledge, nothing changed other than the vanilla -> bf2.4 upgrade. I have now downgraded back to 'vanilla' and ext2 filesystems so that the display is clear enough to work on. Hope this info is useful. --------------------------------------- Received: (at 168826-done) by bugs.debian.org; 14 Jun 2005 14:10:38 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Jun 14 07:10:38 2005 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from baikonur.stro.at [213.239.196.228] by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1DiC7i-0005KY-00; Tue, 14 Jun 2005 07:10:38 -0700 Received: from sputnik (stallburg.stro.at [128.131.216.190]) by baikonur.stro.at (Postfix) with ESMTP id 54B745C001; Tue, 14 Jun 2005 16:10:32 +0200 (CEST) Received: from max by sputnik with local (Exim 4.50) id 1DiC84-0004nl-Tw; Tue, 14 Jun 2005 16:11:00 +0200 Date: Tue, 14 Jun 2005 16:11:00 +0200 From: maximilian attems <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Debian Sarge release Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.9i X-Virus-Scanned: by Amavis (ClamAV) at stro.at Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-3.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00 autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 X-Spam-Level: X-CrossAssassin-Score: 3 happy upgrading. :) you may want to use the new debian installer http://www.debian.org/distrib/ http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/installmanual or maybe go through the release notes: http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/releasenotes if pain subsist with sarge/sid kernels please reopen. -- maks -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
