Package: linux-image-2.6.12-1-powerpc64 Version: 2.6.12-6 Severity: wishlist
Upon reading "Announcing powerpc backport 2.6.12-6 kernel package for sarge", http://lists.debian.org/debian-powerpc/2005/09/msg00135.html , I figured I would give that a try on an Xserve G5. I notice that /usr/share/doc/linux-image-2.6.12-1-powerpc64/changelog.Debian.gz says: * New upstream release: ... - readdition of tg3 driver, as firmware license has been fixed Sounds good. BUT! /boot/config-2.6.12-1-powerpc64: # CONFIG_TIGON3 is not set :( - since this Xserve G5 needs that to network. My main motivation was to get the fans to quiet down (they run full speed in 2.6.8-power4-smp since therm_pm72 doesn't handle them right in that version). I look forward to someday soon having a linux-image-2.6.12-1-powerpc64 that supports Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5704 Gigabit Ethernet (rev 03) and perhaps lets the fans run slower when possible. Until then it'll run kernel-image-2.6.8-power4-smp. Thanks, -Maitland -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
