If the kernel segfaults, its a kernel bug.
Aurelien, could you elaborate a little on what the fix for
#335571 was, it seems that whatever kernel code that is tickling
wants fixing.
Well, it was more a workaround than a fix. The solution I found is to
not probe packet device drives, as we already know they don't have a
temperature sensor. That also fixed a bug where some drives were going
in a bad state when receiving the command, creating a SeekComplete Error
message in the kernel logs.
