Source: linux Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
A new Dell Pro 14 Plus PB14255 laptop was installed with Debian 13.1. System works mostly, except for no sound and no webcam. An installation on same laptop with Ubuntu 24.04 did have sound, and among loaded modules reports soundwire-amd. This module is absent from the Debian kernel. Comparing the Config files in /boot, it seems that the setting CONFIG_SOUNDWIRE_AMD=m is missing. I intend to rebuild the kernel with this setting to see if this is indeed a remedy. But in the mean time I think it makes sense to build the module by default. -- System Information: Debian Release: 13.1 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable-security'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.12.43+deb13-amd64 (SMP w/12 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=nl_NL.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=nl_NL.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled
