The camera Microsoft Lifecam NX-3000, Modell 1120, works only seldom. The very
first attempt to plug it in succeeded and GNOME's `snapshot` showed up an image
from the camera, but in the second and most later attempts to plug it in,
either nothing happens as if the camera were not there, or the transferred
image is completely black and the green LED lights up only shortly. I don't
know what do to, as Windows 10 and Windows 11 can't deal with it either (and in
the Web we find reports about similar issues, e.g.,
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/4194377/lifecam-nx-3000-not-working-on-windows-10).
Mechanically and optically, the camera with the cable seems just fine, and to
the best of my recollection, it has hardly been used since it was bought around
2007–2008.
When plugging in the camera I get the following messages in the journal:
