Package: kernel-image-2.4.27-3-k7 Version: 2.4.27-10sarge5 Severity: grave Justification: breaks the whole system
Hello, I'm using my Sarge computer with two constant XFree86 sessions on vt7 and vt8 without any trouble for years. This morning, as I was mailing with Mozilla (and even if don't see how it could be related or relevant to this bug), my session crashed unexpectedly, and not once but two times ! What surprised me most is that I can't found anything about it in the two Xfree86.logs. It was certainly not startup crashes so I was a bit lost ?! Actually, I found something in the dmesg output wich seems to link these crashes with a kernel bug related to "vmscan.c:433!"... So I submit in a txt file the two parts of dmesg which are related to these crashes. ------------------------------------------------------- The last part of my XFree86.20.log (with an apm_bios thing, as in dmesg output's): SetClientVersion: 0 9 SetClientVersion: 0 9 SetGrabKeysState - disabled SetGrabKeysState - enabled (II) 3rd Button detected: disabling emulate3Button (II) RADEON(0): Wrote: rd=2, fd=30, pd=4 (WW) Open APM failed (/dev/apm_bios) (No such device) (II) RADEON(0): Wrote: rd=12, fd=96, pd=1 (II) Configured Mouse: ps2EnableDataReporting: succeeded (II) RADEON(0): Wrote: rd=2, fd=30, pd=4 SetClientVersion: 0 9 SetGrabKeysState - disabled (WW) Open APM failed (/dev/apm_bios) (No such device) (II) RADEON(0): Wrote: rd=12, fd=96, pd=1 (II) Configured Mouse: ps2EnableDataReporting: succeeded SetGrabKeysState - enabled (II) 3rd Button detected: disabling emulate3Button (II) RADEON(0): Wrote: rd=2, fd=30, pd=4 (WW) Open APM failed (/dev/apm_bios) (No such device) (II) RADEON(0): Wrote: rd=12, fd=96, pd=1 (II) Configured Mouse: ps2EnableDataReporting: succeeded SetClientVersion: 0 9 SetGrabKeysState - disabled SetGrabKeysState - enabled (II) 3rd Button detected: disabling emulate3Button (II) RADEON(0): Wrote: rd=2, fd=30, pd=4 SetClientVersion: 0 9 SetGrabKeysState - disabled (WW) Open APM failed (/dev/apm_bios) (No such device) (II) RADEON(0): Wrote: rd=12, fd=96, pd=1 (II) Configured Mouse: ps2EnableDataReporting: succeeded SetGrabKeysState - enabled (II) RADEON(0): Wrote: rd=2, fd=30, pd=4 (WW) Open APM failed (/dev/apm_bios) (No such device) (II) RADEON(0): Wrote: rd=12, fd=96, pd=1 (II) Configured Mouse: ps2EnableDataReporting: succeeded (II) RADEON(0): Wrote: rd=2, fd=30, pd=4 SetClientVersion: 0 9 SetGrabKeysState - disabled ------------------------------------------------- My kernel package version is : 2.4.27-10sarge5 ------------------------------------------------- My lspci output, if it could helps by any chance : -rw------- 1 0 0 69784 2005-09-02 23:27 XFree86.0.1.log -rw-r--r-- 1 0 0 41813 2006-12-22 13:41 XFree86.0.log -rw-r--r-- 1 0 0 41823 2006-12-22 13:29 XFree86.0.log.old -rw-r--r-- 1 0 0 43091 2006-12-22 13:41 XFree86.20.log -rw-r--r-- 1 0 0 43066 2006-12-21 08:05 XFree86.20.log.old -rw-r--r-- 1 0 0 41833 2006-12-16 08:09 XFree86.21.log -rw-r--r-- 1 0 0 43113 2006-06-20 19:32 XFree86.21.log.old -rw-r--r-- 1 0 0 41640 2006-12-16 08:10 XFree86.22.log [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/log$ lspci 0000:00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc.
