Good news, the problem might be hardware related. With the daily installer from the 12th of February, and if I only have three or fewer CPU inserted in the v440 initial boot and network detection works!
It surprises me that with Solaris, or Debian Etch netboot, I can use four CPU, but with daily only three or less.
