When debconf is set to non-interactive and the following question is asked, Name: linux-image-2.6.18-4-vserver-686/preinst/bootloader-initrd-2.6.18-4-vserver-686 Default: true Description: Do you want to abort now? preinst fails with: Ok, Aborting dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/ linux-image-2.6.18-3-vserver-k7_2.6.18-7_i386.deb (--unpack): subprocess pre-installation script returned error exit status 1 This should imho be more verbose, i.e. why does it abort?.
