I compiled linux-2.6.23.1.tar.bz2 this one functioned correctly and
prints as expected
I jumped to linux-2.6.24.1.tar.bz2 this one did not print and I let
the job run until a new kernel was compiled. No errors in cups error
log. Printer printed one page with the following at some point:
PCL6 ERROR _ FALSE
POSITION : 0x1b12ea (1774314)
SYSTEM : WSIM/gdi
LINE : 321
VERSION : QPDL 1.13 04-01-2002
------------end quote---------------
included here in the event it means something to you.
I then compiled linux-2.6.23.17.tar.bz2 and it printed correctly.
All source is from kernel.org, so if this is a kernel bug it is
upstream. The config was slightly modified by me to exclude device I
knew I did not have to save time on compiling, then oldconfig was run on
the new kernel and defaults where taken on all selections.
I still don't know if the "bug" is with the 2.6.24 series kernel or
perhaps with the cupsys. I do not know what else to look for at this
time to narrow it down. Please contact me if you need any more info or
test performed. This same set up, with the same configuration has ran
for at least 3 years with out a hitch until I installed linux-image 2.6.24
