I did a test installation with a beta1 netinst image
(from http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/squeeze_di_beta1/i386/iso-cd/).

The situation is still the same:

In the debian-installer, the ide_generic module is used by default,
but it is not included in the initrd.
Because of that, the newly installed system is unbootable (no disc is noted 
in /dev).
