Hi, I just came across the same bug.
My soundcard:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio
Controller (rev 03)
        Subsystem: Dell Device 02aa
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 31
        Memory at f6afc000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
        Capabilities: <access denied>
Kernel driver in use: HDA Intel

Kernel: Linux Mobi64 2.6.32-5-686 #1 SMP Sat Oct 30 22:47:19 UTC 2010
i686 GNU/Linux

The fix is to add the two following lines to /etc/modprobe.d/alsabase.conf
options snd-hda-intel model=hp-dv5
options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1

And the sound works perfectly :-)

Greetings,
Stas Zytkiewicz
