$  /usr/sbin/mkinitramfs -o /tmp/ff

$ qemu-system-x86_64 -kernel /boot/vmlinuz-3.3.0-trunk-amd64 -initrd /tmp/ff 
-hda /dev/mapper/shockwave-testroot -append "root=/dev/sda"

not sure what you guys are waffling, id 0 can *allways* read user files.
