Drat.  It's probably a genuine suspend bug, then. :)

The trigger could be something like how much memory is free.  If you
can find a reliable recipe, that would be great, but otherwise we
should just get in contact with upstream (assuming it's not already
fixed there).

Does 3.4.y from experimental reproduce it?
