I don't know if the submitter used the nvidia driver from the debian package or from nvidia's installer, and in any case the issue doesn't come from the driver's packaging but from its code, which we both can't see and don't have permission to modify. Plus, I'm not particularly interested in spending time chasing closed driver bugs.
