After upgrading from Squeeze to Wheezy, many of my sound card's controls have fully disappeared (not just been renamed -- they've vanished fully). My custom volume control script using "amixer cset" stopped working. Most importantly, I'm now unable to control the four outputs independently: - back panel output #1 (external amplifier), - back panel output #2 (speakers built into in my monitor), - front panel output (headphones), - built in speaker (*not* PC speaker). As mentioned above, some outputs have no controls at all now. Additionally, back panel output #1 and front panel output seem to be linked: if I want to listen to the external amplifier, I have to unplug my headphones. I tested all possible values of snd_hda_intel's "model" modparam, none work as flexibly as Wheezy did.
